Cupcake Craft and Pile It On

Last night when I was feeling too tired to concentrate on studying I decided to play with my new Sassafras Lass Vintage Yummy collection pack. This time I didn’t use a sketch but I did sneak in two challenges. Cupcake Craft asked for us to keep it simple. I have two PP, two stickers, and a rub-on sentiment. I’m not sure I could make myself so simpler than that even though I know some ladies create stunning cards with plain white backgrounds. I also have the Pile It On challenge to use flowers incorporated. Part of keeping it simple meant that I didn’t add Primas but the gorgeous Vintage Yummy stickers feature flowers.

Sassafras Lass Love Challenge

Sassafras Lass issued a challenged this week to make a love project and since I love SL I had to join in. The idea is to use some old SL to make room for new SL. I used a bunch of papers from Hog Heaven.
I also used the CPS sketch this week for the layout of my card. I haven’t played there in a long time but I really liked the sketch this week and couldn’t get it out of my head. This is also my mushy gushy valentine for the Pink Elephant challenge. It may not seem that mushy gushy but my valentine isn’t the mushy gushy type so I think by his scale it would be. That also makes it perfect for the Pile It On To the One You Love challenge.

A Quick Card

I always feel like I don’t have time to make a card or join in a challenge during the school week but I decided to prove to myself that I could. So here is my 25 minute card using the simple but cute sketch from Paper Popsicles. Lynda challenged us to use her sketch on a friendship card which is the theme of the week at Paper Popsicles. In order to create a really quick card I went to my GCD Studios stash because the paper packs include coordinated paper and tags.
Also I kept in mind the Dutch Dare Card challenge which was a Summer in Winter challenge. Yellow and of course sunshine (the little suns on the tag) remind me of summer. Pile it On says enough with winter colors so those two challenges went hand in hand.

Sketch Girl Valentines

So I told you all how I loved the new Sketch Girl sketch and well I couldn’t get it out of my head so I made two valentines with the sketch. I decided to combine the sketch with some challenges because I can’t turn up a good challenge. I incorporated Creative Belli’s challenge to use hearts and Caardvarks red hearts challenge. Also Crafty Creations wanted to see a celebration card and these are for Valentine’s Day so that’s certainly a celebration. Pile It On wanted enough of the winter colors so I have lots of bright spring colors.
I made these cards with the Basic Grey Sugar Rush papers and stickers I bought at the LSS this weekend. I was trying to go four months and make 40 projects without new supplies but I only get a chance to go to the scrapbooking store maybe 3 times a year and it was their big anniversary celebration so I broke my challenge. But I didn’t feel too guilty because I had made 19 projects in less than the first month so I’ve been using quite a bit of stash lately.

Four Challenges in One

As classes get started this week I had some extra time but wanted to combine challenges to make the most of it. For this card I combined the Dotty Divas advert challenge and the Flutter by Wednesday challenge because they paired really well. The Flutter By challenge called for embossing with butterflies, angels, or fairies. Dotty Divas advert had many colorful butterflies so I choose to make by butterflies a bold red. I also incorporated the Pile It On challenge to use three ribbon and the Card Patterns sketch although I did modify the sketch slightly.
This weekend I will be working on the upcoming Sketch Girl sketch with a template from Perfect Presentations. Leigh Ann has done such a great job including instructions and examples with the template that you are excited to use them right away.

Lots of Challenges

This card was made for several challenge. It started with the ICS sketch and challenge to make a Christmas card. I combined this with the Caardvarks challenge to make a winter card and the Pile it On challenge to use no patterned paper. Finally since I wasn’t going to use patterned paper I knew I’d be pulling out the stamps so I incorporated the Stamp Something use a charm challenge. I loved the challenge of using no patterned paper and had fun making the snowflake design for my card. My charm is the fun plastic ornament that I got in a swap. I’ve been in a bit of a funk and this card got me going again. I love when a challenge is not only a bit difficult but also really inspiring and that’s what I got when I combined all these fun challenges.

Weekend Scrapping

This first card is for GCD Studios Bold and Simple contest. I lov using their product and usually projects I make with their paper do turn out quite simple because the papers really stand out. Also the tags make for quick cards and LOs because they make a great focal feautre or fast journaling.
This card combines the Pile It On challenge with one of the challenges at 365 Cards. Pile It On was a sketch this week and the 365 Cards challenge was to use paper piercing. Not a technique I’ve ever really used but I like the look and its super simple.
