Shark Week at Newton’s Nook Designs

Shark Birthday Card by Jess Gerstner for Newton's Nook Designs
Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card as part of Newton’s Nook Designs celebration of Shark Week! Last year Newton’s Nook release the shark stamp set Shark Bites and this year they are releasing the coordinating dies. The best part is there is a sale on both this week! For today’s card I created a background by watercoloring through a stencil and then I did some no line watercoloring on the sharks and used the new dies to cut them out. For more check out the video tutorial below:
I love all the fun poses in the set and the great punny sentiments. Be sure to head over the Newton’s Nook blog for more inspiration!

Winter Birthday Card using Create a Smile Stamps

Winter Fox Birthday Card by Jess Gerstner using Create a Smile Stamps
Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing a birthday card made with Create a Smile stamps. I really wanted to try to create a soft watercolor background and I thought these colors would be perfect for a winter scene. However I need a break from holiday card and so I decided to go with a birthday card. I love a good pun so I masked off the ‘cool’ from Cool Buddies to go with my large sentiment from the Make a Wish stamp set.  For a more detailed tutorial check out my video.
On a related note if you love critters, like this cute little fox I used, then I would love for you to join my new Facebook group Critter Loving Papercrafters. You will need to be approved to join but this is just to keep the spammers out. All others will be quickly approved. We have a lot of great people in the group already and I can’t wait to see more projects.

Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds with Simon Says Stamp Pawesome

Artsy Watercolor Background Pawesome Cards by Jess Moyer featuring Simon Says Stamp
Hello crafty friends! Today I have a set of cards featuring some Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamps and dies. I colored these cute pets from the set as part of the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge but recently added them to a card with a fun watercolor background. I used my Koi Watercolor Sketchbox for this. I really like the quality of these watercolors for the price.
As you can see in the video the process of creating the background for these is really free and is just a great chance to play with color and get to know what your watercolors will do when you apply paint and water in different ways.

Happy Birthday

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a simple card share featuring watercolor and Lawn Fawn Stamps. For this card I use Versafine ink and clear embossing powder to create the background on watercolor paper. I started by stamping the large butterflies then I filled it in with the smaller flowers. The images are from Flutterby and the sentiment is from Sophie’s sentiments. After I melted the embossing powder I used my Koi watercolors to paint a rainbow. I am so impressed with the quality of the Koi watercolors especially for their price. The panel was cut with the largest of the small stitched rectangle dies.
