Comparing Purple Distress Inks and The Hop to Stop

Hello crafty friends! Today I am here with a card set and video for Becca Dawn’s Hop to Stop which is aiming to raise awareness for domestic violence. Please follow the link to learn more and find out how you can participate. The rules of the hop ask you to create a purple card and since I got the Wilted Violet Distress Ink in my October DT package from Tupelo Designs LLC I decided to incorporate the hop into my video. Check out more about the ink comparison and a card tutorial in the video.
Newton’s Nook is a sponsor for this hop and Tupelo Designs LLC carries many of their sets so it was a perfect combo. Of course there is a lot of purple inspiration on this hop and so if it makes you fall in love with purple, I’m hoping this look at the whole range of purple Distress Inks will help you figure out which are for you. Unsurprisingly I consider them all must haves!

Also the check out the Facebook page for the hop so you can find out how to donate your cards.

Creating a Artsy Look with Distress Products and Newton’s Nook Beautiful Blossoms

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card over on the Newton’s Nook blog. I did some Distress Ink smooshing and then embossed the flowers from Beautiful Blossoms. I finished it off with some Distress Stain splatters. You can check out a video tutorial for more information.
I have heard that the splatter technique can harm your Distress stains so a fun cheap alternative is bingo markers. I have a video comparing Distress Stains and Bingo Markers and showing more techniques. You can find bingo markers at your dollar store or online.

Ocean Distress Ink Background with Gerda Steiner Designs Heavy Friends

Create a Distress Ink Ocean Background with Gerda Steiner Designs Heavy Friends Clear Stamps
Hello crafty friends! Today’s card features a Distress Ink background and the Gerda Steiner Designs Heavy Friends stamp set. I combined some Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean and then added some water droplets. Check out the video for more on this background.
I just love the little bit of interest you get by adding glossy accents to the bubbles and the Fineline Applicator makes that so much easier to do.

One Layer Card featuring Newton’s Nook Designs

Stenciled Sun Ray Card using Newton's Nook Bunny Hop Stamps and My Favorite Things Sun Ray stencil
Hello crafty friends! Today I have a card for the latest Newton’s Nook Designs Inky Paws challenge. The challenge is a one layer card and this one was tricky for me. I tend to work on a panel for my inking and coloring and then attach it to my card. To see more on how I created this card, check out the video below.
Tips from this card/video:
Use a heat gun to make sure ink is dry between applications
Colored pencils are great for one layer cards because they won’t bleed through like alcohol markers
Extend a sun ray stencil by using post it notes as masks

Ranger Ink Warehouse Sale 2014

Hello Crafty Friends! I am extremely fortunate to live close to the Ranger Ink Warehouse and so I was able to attend there warehouse sale a few weeks back. This is my third year at the sale. Today I have a video that talks a little about the experience, shows you what I got, and has a card process using supplies with my haul.
I was so excited to get some Distress reinkers and a bunch of new stencils at a great deal. I am a big fan of all things Distress so of course I will be continuing to use these goodies in upcoming cards.

Make A Wish

I’ve loved these Storybook stamps from Avery Elle for a long time and I love how they pair so perfectly with this Sun Ray Stencil from My Favorite Things. I used this stencil in a similar way last week this time I decided to skip the vellum to create a brighter card. For cardstock panel I used the Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn. These dies add just the right detail and I am addicted to using them. I also used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders to create the hill. I love all the little extras in the set that help set the scene such as the grass and butterflies. With so many clearance items currently in the shop you can score some new favorites and great deals to reach the $60 free shipping threshold.
